A Social Minefield

Hello and Welcome to High School. A social Minefield.

We’ve all been there. The thing with high school is, it never changes. Time can fly by, fashions will come in and out but no matter your race or gender, as long as you’re a teenager, rest assured the jungle we call ‘school’ will chew you up and spit you out.

Now, I don’t mean to discourage those of you who havent reached that yet but wise words; you will have your ups and down (extreme suicidal moments, heart breaks and moments of pure insanity and hysterics of laughter) but you’ll never forget it. In fact, your experience in school has the capacity to shape your future, who you are and who you become. unfortunately our teenage years are the ones where we discover who we are, make stupid choices, see the world for what it really is and discover who our real friends are. Today I witnessed something that upset me and thank God (literally) that I know who I am.

People *cough* Girls *cough* will, bitch and just be plain nasty and for no absolute reason. I do believe it’s in our nature as women but that’s no excuse to carry on doing it anyway. Boys will be boys ( rough ‘n’ tumble)  and of course will always be there to break our hearts carelessly.

God has kept you till now, he’ll keep you till tomorrow (if he wills). He has plans for your life, even if it doesnt seem so. Forget those popular kids that give everyone evils in the cafeteria. Forget the boy that used those three words with his lips but not his heart. Forget those friends that lied to you. But remember it wont last forever. But then again Bowling For Soup said ‘High School Never Ends’…here we go again.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Dont rush into things. Dont get involved in the Gossip (trudat!) and Be true to yourself. Its okay, to be who you are. If they really like you they wont care what your like.

High school can’t be described. it just has to be experienced. Those are, and will always be The Best Days Of Your Life.           xoxo Evie

One Swift Movement

You've been Taylored, Swiftly.

I seem to be the only teen girl who has noticed that Taylor Swifts songs are all about love and relationship ( you’re probably thinkin ‘no shizz Sherlock!’). Yes, I’ll admit it, Taylor Swift’s songs drive me crazy. I’m not taking a stab at Taylor, I think she is a beautiful girl with loads talent.

I and a bunch of friends (all girls) have openly admitted that Taylor’s songs make us want to be in love. I think it’s unhealthy but we enjoy the music so much that we dont see it, we forget about what it is that keeps us young, we forget about living for today. No doubt boys are hot and as young women we should be allowed to drool but believe me once you got one, it’s STRESSFUL! You will be surprised to know I have taken the dramatic step of removing ALL her songs from my playlist, to save my young mind from a warped-fairytale-media-imposed vision of love.

All I’m saying is DONT BE HYPNOTIZED BY THE ‘LOVE’ STORY. We are young, lets embrace it, go out have a good time, watch the sunset and hang on to hope. Relationships aren’t everything at 15. Focus on knowing yourself before you let someone else know you. Enjoy Life. Dont be Tailored, Be You.

Summer Came Like Cinnamon, So Sweet.

So It's Autumn ( Fall for you Americanos). Sew Me.

Ok, so this post is about Autumn and not Summer. As you can see from the above picture, I have been incredibly inspired by the good old British weather to write a post. September by Daughtry taught me that September is goodbye to summer and summer romance, but even with all the rain we could still carry on in enjoy and say ‘it was worth it in the end’. I never thought I’d say this but, as much as I love you Daughtry, I beg to differ. I can’t seem to believe that in Endland we have had a week of blazing sunshine that meant this weekend everyone was all shorts and shades ( LA would probably consider our sunshine their -10 degrees though!), unfortunately i think it may be short lived. Long story short ( or ill be here forever!) I LOVE AUTUMN. Forget the cold, It’s not about that. The colours are spectacular, greens, reds and yellows all mixed in and mashed together. Every time, I see it every year and I still  never get used to it, the beauty is overwhelming, take five minutes to notice it, The way the warm light beams it’s way through the tree leaves. And with the August type sunshine we’ve been having lately It’s been that little bit more beautiful. Walking home, Corrine Bailey Rae’s Put Your Records On, came into my head. It’s just the kinda song that accompanies this mood, it’s just right. Summer did come like Cinnamon, It was sweet, but its didnt wanna leave and came again in September, and I’ll enjoy it… While It’s here. I hope you do too.
